My name is Mikayla but growing up everyone called me Mik. I was born in Lafayette, Louisiana but I was displaced after Hurricane Katrina and grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. My stepmom was constantly taking photos with her canon when I was growing up. This meant I slowly figured out how a camera works & spent many hours staring at a computer screen helping her decide which edits looked best. Even though I was always surrounded by photography I never picked the hobby up myself!

Fast forward to 2022, in my previous job I was often the one running around with the camera taking photos. People often commented on how I had an eye for taking pictures & it was a reminder for me how much I truly enjoyed it!

So one day, I decided to buy a canon & since then we’ve been off to the races!

When I’m not working as full time preschool teacher or photographing your beautiful faces I’m usually studying. Yes, I’m also a full time student! I’m currently working through my bachelors program in Elementary Education. I hope to continue my education in order to be a Teacher of the Deaf. All the (very limited) time in between I’m on the couch watching documentaries with my husband, our two very large dogs & our cat.
